MK3 Air Pump Controller

MK3 Air Pump Controller

Powering things with compressed air is expensive. Some mines will spend more money generating compressed air than they will running their longwall shearer.

Most of this money is entirely wasted because all of a mine's air pumps run all the time.

Turning air pumps off when they aren't moving water saves money in a few ways:

  • Energy. Our case studies have shown a typical mine can save $500,000 a year and sometimes much more than that in energy alone.
  • Maintenance. Air pumps are different to electric in that they have no limit on starts per hour. Their service life is mostly determined by the duty cycle. We've shown that reducing maintenance costs by 90% is possible.
  • Downtime. Most pits run their compressed air system at capacity. At the face line air pressure can be significantly lower than nominal, to the point where water management is no longer possible and mining operations must cease.

But does it work? Handle slurry? Will the operators adopt it?

The MK3 and its predecessors have significant time underground in various roles. Our customers will attest that it's exceptionally reliable.

The probe has been specifically developed for and tested in the worst coal mines have to offer. Cleaning the probe simple; hit it against something to knock the crud off.

Operators will appreciate the extra air pressure at the face and not having to replace pumps as often. The controller itself can be bypassed with a flick of a switch if necessary.
